To mark National Reconciliation Week 2023, First Nations artist Alex Birdfox painted an intricate black and white dot artwork, live in the lobby at the new Sydney Place Precinct, 180 George St, Sydney.

Emerging artist Alex Birdfox has continued in his artistic journey, having been self-taught since 2020. Following on from his live art session in 2022 for National Reconciliation Week as well as a group exhibition with aMBUSH Gallery in Canberra, Alex has been working on a solo exhibition as well as commissioned works throughout 2023.

Alex is of Wiradjuri descent – born and raised in Yuin Country and creating modern Aboriginal art in Dharug country.

A self-taught emerging artist since lockdown 2020, his works explore metaphysical, philosophical questions about the nature of our reality, and how that intertwines with spirituality and human existence.

Produced by aMBUSH Gallery and presented by Sydney Place, the event reflected the National Reconciliation Week theme of ‘Be A Voice For Generations’, a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
