Join Australian director Selina Miles at Kambri for the screening of her highly acclaimed documentary about the iconic photographer Martha Cooper.

Over six weekends in November and December, the HERE I AM: Art by Great Women festival produced by aMBUSH Gallery at Kambri will present an exciting free program of films that profile and celebrate influential female artists, either through documentary or scripted narrative.

In 1970s New York, Martha Cooper captured some of the first images of graffiti at a time when the city had declared war on it. Decades later, Cooper has become influential to the global movement of street artists and is revered around the globe.

This energetic documentary – made by Australian Selina Miles – is a joyous look at a career devoted to capturing everyday life in vibrant New York City in the ’70s and ’80s.

Selina will take part in what promises to be a fascinating post-screening conversation with the audience, to discuss the making of the documentary and give further insights into Martha, the incredible subject of her film.
